Roller chain usually refers to the short pitch transmission with precision roller chain, it is the most widely used, the most output. The roller chain is divided into single row and multi row, which is suitable for small power transmission. The basic parameter of the roller chain is the chain pitch p, which is equal to the roller chain number multiplied by 25.4/16(mm). The suffix in the chain number is A and B, indicating two series, and the two series complement each other.
The roller chain is composed of inner chain plate, outer chain plate, pin shaft, sleeve and roller. The inner chain plate and the sleeve, the outer chain plate and the pin shaft are all interference fit; the roller and the sleeve, the sleeve and the pin shaft are all clearance fit. When working, the inner and outer chain links can be relatively flexible, the sleeve can rotate freely around the pin shaft, and the roller is sleeved on the sleeve to reduce the wear between the chain and the sprocket. In order to reduce the weight and make the cross-section strength equal, the inner and outer chain plates are often made of "8" shape. Each part of the chain is made of carbon steel or alloy steel and is usually heat treated to achieve a certain strength and hardness.
Roller chains can be made into single-row chains and multi-row chains. When it is necessary to bear large load and transmit large power, multi-row chains can be used. Multi-row chains are equivalent to several ordinary single-row chains connected with each other by long pins. Its carrying capacity is proportional to the number of rows. However, the more rows, the more difficult it is to make each row bear even force. Therefore, the number of rows should not be too many. Double-row chains and triple-row chains are commonly used.
Roller chains are widely used in various machinery in agriculture, mining, metallurgy, petrochemical, lifting and transportation industries. The power that chain transmission can transmit can reach 3600kW, which is commonly used for power below 100kW. The chain speed can reach 30~40 m/s, and the common chain speed is below 15 m/s. The maximum transmission ratio can reach 15, generally less than 6,. 2~2.5 is appropriate.
